OperaDelaware rents complete costumes from our inventory ranging from Renaissance to Modern costumes. Costumes are divided into two classifications: "Standard Collection" and "Private Collection." The "Standard Collection" is comprised of quality costumes from every era including fantasy and animal costumes. Our "Private Collection" costumes are beautifully detailed and made from the highest quality materials. The difference in workmanship is reflected in the rental price.
In general, we rent individual costumes. Although complete show "packages" are not available, designers have costumed entire shows out of our stock with marvelous results. Many costumers have used our collection to "round out" their designs, finding the perfect pieces to make their production spectacular.

Costumes may be altered as long as they can be returned to their original condition. Costumes may not be dyed, painted, glued or cut without the written permission of OperaDelaware.
Refunds for unused costumes are not available.
All costumes must be returned laundered or professionally dry cleaned (as is appropriate for the garment).
Payment must be received in full prior to removal from OperaDelaware inventory. Payment may be made by check, cash or purchase order.
At this time, OperaDelaware is unable to ship costumes for rental. The using company must pick up costumes from the OperaDelaware Studios located at:

Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance to rent costumes and to return costumes. For an appointment please call the Production Department at (302) 658-8063 or Opinfo@operadel.org.
Rental Charges:
Costume rental charges are based on a "complete costume" (includes shoes/boots/hats, etc.). Individual accessories are also available for $5.00 per piece (tophats, riding boots, tri-corner hats, parasols, etc.)
Standard Costume Collection:
One-Week Rental: $15.00 per costume
Two-Week Rental: $20.00 per costume
Three-Week Rental: $25.00 per costume
Four-Week Rental: $30.00 per costume
Private Collection Costumes (very elaborate ballgowns for example) :
One-Week Rental: $25.00 per costume
Two-Week Rental: $30.00 per costume
Three-Week Rental: $35.00 per costume
Four-Week Rental: $40.00 per costume
A discount of 10% is available to non-profit organizations when 20 complete costumes or more are rented. No other discounts are available.
