It is a pleasure unlike any other, the raw human emotion and sheer exhilaration of Italian opera. To commemorate the centennial of Verdis death, we have created an extraordinary season of Italian opera. We open in October with Verdis tragic opera Otello. Later in the season youll find Verdis complex and intriguing IL Trovatore, presented by Teatro Lirico dEuropa. We close the regular season with Rossinis sparkling and well-loved The Barber of Seville.

Sometimes a lighthearted whimsical opera is in order to brighten the heart, so this year weve also added a couple of your favorite operettas. In January join us for the "queen" of operettas, Franz Lehars The Merry Widow. In April, Gilbert & Sullivans sunny shipboard romance H.M.S. Pinafore in a wonderful way to usher in spring.
